The North Perth Public Library is committed to providing a range of materials, facilities, services, and programs at all locations to meet the diverse needs of our community.

Accessible Collections

The North Perth Public Library offers a range of materials that can be borrowed with your library card or accessed within the walls of our libraries! 

Large Print: Now a large selection of a variety of genres in fonts that are larger, making reading a physical book much easier! Available at all three locations. 

Libby: A digital database of ebooks, audiobooks, and emagazines that can be accessed from any device with internet. The Libby app has many accessibility settings to customize for personal needs. 

DAISY Reader: Borrow or use a DAISY reader! The device plays audiobook CD's without the use of a screen. Browse our collection of Audiobook CD's to pair with the device. 

Yoto Players: Geared towards children, this screenless audiobook player reads children's stories. Borrow one today! 

Accessible Programs

The NPPL strives to offer free, accessible programs on diverse topics, for varying purposes, and to all demographics. All building accessibility features are available for program purposes and our staff are eager to assist.

Centre for Equitable Library Access (CELA)

The NPPL is a member of CELA. CELA provides reading materials in accessible formats for Canadians with print disabilities. For more information, visit the CELA website or contact the library.

Eligibility

Access to the CELA collection is available to people who are unable to read conventional print due to a disability, which includes:

  • Learning disability: an impairment relating to comprehension of print
  • Physical disability: the inability to hold or manipulate a book
  • Visual disability: severe or total impairment of sight or the inability to focus or move one's eyes.
